And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14

--

The birth of Jesus is the greatest birthday that ever dawned upon the world. All other birthdays are as nothing in comparison. On that day, God became man that man might be lifted up to God. He came not in terror, but in tenderness; not to condemn, but to save. He came in the weakness of infancy, that He might be known as the Brother of the lowly; yet He came in the majesty of Godhead, that He might be trusted as the Savior of sinners. Here is a wonder: the Infinite made an infant, the Ancient of Days become a child of days. He was born that He might die, and He died that we might live.

Let us lift up our hearts with gratitude. If God had so willed, He might have left us to perish in our sin, but He delighted in mercy. He spared not His own Son, but freely gave Him for us all. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He entered the world of sorrow that He might turn our sorrow into joy. He took our nature that He might take our place. He was born of woman that we might be born of God. Heaven sang at His birth, and well may earth rejoice. All the blessings we possess flow from the manger of Bethlehem and the cross of Calvary.

Let us never cease to wonder that God should come so near. The incarnation is the pledge that He will never cast off those who trust in Him. He who came to us will come again for us. He who took our flesh will raise us in glory. The heart of God is toward man, and His delight is with those whom He has redeemed. Blessed be His name forever, Christ is born.
