“For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” - John 1:16
--
In the person of Jesus Christ, the infinite glory of God and the lowliness of man meet together with a harmony beyond all imagination. There we behold majesty and meekness, justice and mercy, sovereignty and service, divinity and humanity joined in one person. Christ is an ocean of grace without a shore, a fountain that never runs dry. All that sinners need is treasured in Him. There is no grace bestowed on the saints but what flows from His fullness. He purchased every blessing by His obedience and death, and He communicates every blessing by His Spirit. The saints receive grace for grace, grace answerable to their need, grace according to every condition of life, grace increasing until grace is made perfect in glory.
It pleased God that in Him should all fullness dwell. Believers need not seek anything apart from Christ. If they desire pardon, He is the Lord our righteous- ness. If they desire strength, He is the Rock of ages. If they desire comfort, He is the God of all consolation. If they desire holiness, He is made unto them sanctification. In every want, in every trial, in every duty, they are to draw from Christ. He is the treasure of God, opened for the supply of all His people. They who come to Him shall never be sent away empty.
The soul that has seen the beauty of Christ will never be satisfied with anything else. All that the world can give is as nothing in comparison with Him. The more we know Him, the more we desire Him. The more we taste of His grace, the more we hunger for His fullness. To live upon Christ is heaven begun; to dwell with Christ is heaven perfected. Blessed are they who, receiving from His fullness now, shall enjoy the fullness of His glory forever.
