And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
(Hebrews 10:25)
________
As we enter a near year, many of us are making New Year’s Resolutions or setting goals in the hopes that we would better ourselves or improve our lives in some way. Dieting or exercise routines, reading more, traveling more, or spending more time with family will all likely be things that would be a help to you in seeking self-improvement. Those are fine goals, even admirable. In fact, several of those are ones that I’m pursuing in my own life in 2021.
But let me encourage you to consider one resolution that many don’t think to include, much less give the high place it belongs:
Resolve to be more committed to the Church this year than ever before.
Attend consistently, serve vigorously, give freely, and love selflessly. Show your devotion to Christ by devoting yourself to His Church. Not because it’s a chore, or because you fear His wrath - or the phone calls from the Pastor - but because you love the Bride of Christ.
I am praying that all of our hearts would be set on serving Christ and His Church this year and for every year to come.
